LAHORE: Pakistan Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique said on Saturday that transparency would be ensured in the department besides recruitment process.
Talking to the media at the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between PR Police and National Testing Service (NTS) here at PR Headquarters, he said that now no political worker would be employed on the basis of his political affiliation.
He said that ministers should not have right to make recruitments as it was responsibility of professionals.
He said the NTS was hired for testing candidates of 100 ASIs and 760 constables in the PR police to hold transparent process of recruitments.
He said that experts of the PR would conduct physical test and interviews at seven railway divisions.
The minister said these 870 posts were approved by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on demand as the department was facing acute shortage of security personnel.
To a question, he said that process to compensate heirs of workers passed away during service was under consideration but non-skilled people could not be appointed on technical positions.
Saad Rafique said that there was shortage of diploma engineers and drivers in the department and after the revival of the department these vacancies would also be filled through transparent system.
To another question, he said the prime minister had approved summery for the appointment of PR chairman, and any PR officers of grade 21 could apply for the post, however, candidates from private sector should have a certain experience can apply.
Later, PR Police IG Ibne Hussain and NTS Secretary Waqar Sami Khan signed MoU documents.
GM Railways Anjum Pervaiz, AGM Traffic Javaid Anwar and other senior officers were also present.
