KARACHI: At least 18 people including 7 ASF personnel’s have been killed in a terrorist attack at Karachi Airport which started on Sunday night, Aaj News reported.
The reporters of Aaj Tv revealed that the terrorists who entered the business airport of Karachi were armed with Indian-made weapons including automatic weapons, hand grenades, suicide jackets and rocket launchers, whereas they managed their way towards the airport from Star Gate entity.
More than a dozen of terrorists managed their way to enter the Karachi airport from the back side of the airport and right after their entrance they abruptly opened fire and hurled grenades on the guards and managed their way towards the old
terminal of the airport, than onto the tarmac.
Altogether18 people including Seven ASF personnel, one Pakistan International Airline (PIA), Civilian Aviation Authority and one Ranger guard were reported to be killed in this terrorist attack up till now.
According to DG ISPR Major General Asim Bajwa, terrorists inside the Karachi airport were limited to two areas, whereas the terrorists who have been killed up till now possessed rockets and other Indian-armed weapons. Meanwhile he also said that the airport will be cleared by midday for operations.
Asim Bajwa in his tweet mentioned that no aircraft has been damaged, whereas the giant cloud of smoke appeared after the building ran into fire.
On the other hand, Nawaz Sharif has asked the DG Rangers to ensure the safety of all the passengers at the airport. The fight back with the terrorists was being led by the Corps Commander Karachi and DG Rangers.
Meanwhile, the reports revealed that an Emergency has been declared at the airport, whereas at least 18 people have been bought to Abbasi Shaheed and Jinnah Civil Hospital from treatment.
The Chief Minister of Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah while briefing the media men earlier said that the terrorist who have attacked the airport are well trained and they have come up here to destroy the structures of the airport, but the security officials and authorities will not let them do so.
The latest updates regarding the associated news revealed that the attack at Karachi Airport was planned and conducted by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), whereas the airport has now been declared out of threat and have been cleared. The authorities claimed that the airport after a search operation will be handed over to Civil Aviation Authorities.
The security sources revealed that all together 10 terrorists have been killed after which the airport was declared to be clear from threats, whereas six dead bodies of the personnel’s killed during this attack last night have been handed over to the families.
The reporters also revealed that 20 flights scheduled for domestic as well as for International departures have been affected by this attack.
