LAHORE: Provincial Law Minister Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan has said the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chairman Maulana Tahirul Qadri should not get restless and wait for the findings of the independent Judicial Commission and the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the Model Town incident.
“Model Town incident is regrettable but PAT leadership should not create a storm in a teacup by exploiting the sad
incident”, he said during a press conference at the 90-Shahrah e Quaid e Azam here Sunday.
Provincial Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman was also present.
About the All Parties Conference (APC) convened by the PAT, the law minister said “the so-called APC” was attended by such insignificant parties whose names were not known to even Maulana Tahirul Qadri and the masses.To a query, he said some politicians who were making volatile speeches in the current political scenario had supported Musharraf’s Referendum, adding that these politicians sought certain concessions for the former dictator pervaiz Musharraf.
“These politicians do not respect courts while the government believes in supremacy of law and the Constitution”, he responded, adding the decision will not be according to their evil will.
To another query, the minister said these rejected politicians wished that democratic system should be sent packing. He said these rejected politicians were desperately waiting for a signal from somewhere but these conspiratorsshould know that their own signal was “Down”.Regarding the demand of resignation by Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the minister said did the elements, demanding resignation from Shahbaz Sharif, ask any resignation from Pervaiz Musharraf after the Lal Mosque incident.
To a question, he said these so-called politicians wanted to disrupt the democratic system at the moment when the Armed Forces were fighting a war for solidarity of Pakistan while the democratic government was making every effort to put the country back on the path to progress and prosperity.
He said the people of Pakistan wanted to eliminate poverty, provision of health and education facilities, clean water and employment opportunities, adding that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had mandate to put the country on the glorious path of progress.
“These rejected politicians should know that the democratic process would not stop at their whims and wishes”, he added.
He said the effort to fail the government institutions tantamount to compromising the country’s stability, adding that all such attempts would lick the dust.The minister urged the electronic media to air Maulana Tahirul Qadri’s video-link address on the night of June 16 and June 17 in which the PAT chairman incited PAT workers to violence.
About the PAT and PTI chairmen, he said the one common factor between Maulana Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan was that both had changed their standpoints on innumerable occasions during the past one week, adding that their associates Chaudhry brothers had set new records of corruption during their regime and the NAB was investigating into it.
He said the law would take its course and action would be initiated against the corrupt.
