LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has said he will resign if found responsible for Lahore Model Town clashes, Aaj News reports.
While addressing a press conference in Lahore, Shahbaz Sharif said he will resign if found responsible in judicial investigation report for Lahore incident, adding that all persons responsible for the incident will be punished.
Talking to the media, Shahbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the killing of protesting workers of Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT).
He also sympathized with PAT Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri over the sad incident.
He said he had directed a judicial inquiry into the killings and justice would be ensured to the victims.
He said the judicial commission would be requested to hold its proceeding on daily basis and submit its report within a week.
The chief minister, who was flanked by provincial ministers Rana Sanaullah Khan and Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, said he did not believe in the politics of vengeance. He had never done “politics of bullets and sticks” during his entire political career.
To a question, he said if the judicial commission held him responsible for the incident, he would step down without any delay.
Meanwhile, the chief minister convened an emergent meeting to review the post Model Town operation situation.
