ISLAMABAD: One thousand eight hundred and eighty-five families from North Waziristan have been registered as fresh internally displaced persons (IDPs) during the last 24 hours, Radio Pakistan reported on Tuesday.
These families comprised eleven thousand five hundred and forty-five individuals.
According to sources in FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) these IDPs were registered in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan and Tank districts. The number of IDPs has now reached to 992,649.
With this, the number of IDPs has now reached to nine hundred ninety-two thousand six hundred and forty-nine.
Meanwhile, World Food Programme and Pakistan Army have distributed over one hundred thousand food packets among the IDPs.
UNHCR and Norwegian Refugee Council have also given over twenty-five thousand non-food kits to the IDPs.
