PESHAWAR: As many as eight paramilitary soldiers were martyred and another inured when militants opened indiscriminate firing on Frontier Corps two vehicles in Khyber Agency in the wee hours of Friday.
Security Officials told APP that the tragic incident occurred at Sakhi bridge at Ghundai area of Tehsil Jamrud in Khyber Agency where militants armed with heavy weapons and rocket launchers ambushed two patrolling vehicles of the FC troops around 1:30am.
As result of firing, eight personnel of Frontier Corps were martyred and another sustained injuries. The injured was shifted to hospital.
The FC troops also retaliated and killed five militants on the spot. The security forces rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. The identity of victims could not be immediately ascertained. The vehicles were also damaged.
