KARACHI: All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) has urged the concerned authorities to initiate a sound and long term strategy to counter availability of faulty CNG cylinders causing serious risks to human lives as well as to the property.
Office bearers of the association in a statement here on Tuesday also expressed their heartfelt grief with regard to loss of precious human lives due to explosion of vehicles fitted with faulty cylinders in two separate incidents at Peshawar and Karachi respectively.
Claiming that APCNGA had heavily invested in workshops, training and introducing safety technologies viz a viz promotion of CNG as a cost effective as well as hazard free fuel, it was alleged that bureaucratic inertia frustrated the efforts.
The APCNGA office bearers regretted that not only a sluggish attitude was adopted towards unscrupulous elements engaged in the sale of substandard cylinders but that regular checking of CNG kits as well as cylinders were also never adopted among the top priorities by the concerned authorities.
They also lamented abrupt end to public awareness campaigns about CNG cylinders and kits fitted in vehicles that were launched in different parts of the country but without any proper strategy.
