ISLAMABAD: The latest special issue of Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL)’s quarterly issue “Adbiyat” is on the genre “Naat” and it will serve as a reference document for students and scholars.
Chairman Pakistan Academy of Letters, Shiraz Latif, speaking on the launching ceremony of the edition said Pakistani literature is very rich so for as this genre is concerned.
“Almost all major poets and scholars have contributed Naat, as a gesture of respect and faith to the great personality and Messenger of God `Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH)'”, he opined.
The purpose of publishing this issue is not only to contribute in Pakistani literature but also to get the lead to collect in one volume the representative “Naats” appeared in different languages of Pakistan included Arabic and Persian as well.
He said one section of the magazine is dedicated to a selection of Naats by companions of the Prophet (PBUH) and others venerable personalities.
Other section contains selections of representative poetry of major Pakistani languages.
He said a mentionable article is consisted of a Bibliography collections of Naat published in Pakistan since 1947.
Chairman PAL said the issue consists of 552 pages. It includes selection of Naats from Arabic, Persian and Urdu.
It includes prose regarding Naats in Urdu and other languages. It includes translations from Brahvi, Balochi, Pashto, Punjabi, Saraiki, Sindhi, Gojri and Hinko.
Chairman PAL, Shiraz Latif is the Managing Editor of the magazine while Editor is Muhammad Asim Butt and Co-Editor is Akhtar Raza Saleemi.
The title of journal is designed by the renowned artist Ahmed Anwar.
