The Commissioner Mirpurkhas while unveiling the district administration’s plan to celebrate the Independence Day in a befitting manner in Mirpurkhas said on August 14 the day will begin with one minute’s silence at 08:58 by blowing of siren upon which all traffic would be stopped.
While at 09:00 hours flag hoisting ceremony will be held in district and Talukas Headquarters and special prayers for the country will be offered while rich tribute will be paid to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the war against terrorism and for safeguarding of our beloved homeland.
According to the Commissioner, all district officers will be asked to visit the graves of martyrs in their respective areas and lay wreaths, offer prayers and meet their families to express solidarity.
In addition there will be national song contests in schools, colleges and universities and sports competitions will also be held at the district and tehsil levels.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Umerkot, Sanghar and Mirpurkhas and other officers. It pledged to celebrate the Independence Day with fully vigour in the respective districts.
Earlier, at another meeting the Commissioner Mirpurkhas directed the officials district head quarter Mirpurkhas to complete the ongoing development works as soon as possible and said all legal procedure should be completed.
He also directed that the district Hospital should be completed in time and all facilities should be provided. On the occasion project director briefed the Commissioner about the construction of the Hospital.
