PESHAWAR: The business and trading activities in Khyber Pakthunkhwa received a great setback due to political instability in the country created said by Zahidullah Shinwari President of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry here Wednesday.
In an exclusive chat with APP here at his office, Shinwari, seemingly perturbed over the political instability, impressed upon the political parties to show patience and tolerance for each other and resolved the issues through table talks and in amicable manner instead of taking it to the streets and roads.
He told that provincial economy was faced with loss of billion of rupees daily due to rise in political temperature for the last couple of weeks and added that traders and businessmen have stopped all their activities like import of the machinery, export etc and following the policy of wait and see till August 14. “We are worst the affectees of the current political instability in the country,” he said and added that economic activity has become almost stagnant as 70 percent capital flight has reported due to unrest and terrorism.
He said that KPCCI is a non-political entity and wanted only political harmony so that this province could flourish and added that rise into the political temperature has cast extremely negative impact on the overall economic process.
He said that industrial and economic packages announced for the province time to time by the successive regimes were withdrawn prematurely by the bureaucracy resultantly the desired results were not achieved.
Shinwari said that due locational disadvantage and extra cost borne by the industrialists of the province, our industries cannot compete with competitors in other provinces and added that level playing field has to be provided for competition.
This province is bestowed with God gifted natural resources if exploited properly could turn around the economy of KPK, he added.
