ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has asked its consumers to adopt safety measures while using electric gadgets to avoid any untoward incident during the current monsoon season.
A small mistake or negligence could result into a fatal accident, according to an IESCO spokesman here.
A person could save himself from electric shock by keeping distance from the electric installations and adopting precautionary measures.
While advising the consumers, the company has pressed for replacement of old wires and maintenance electric fitting at their houses besides refrain from touching live wires.
The consumers have also been asked to use electric gadgets having three pins plug and ensure a proper earth.
While using iron, washing machine, refrigerator etc, always put a wooden sheet under the feet and use rubber-sole shoes.
For drying clothes, the consumers should always use cotton rope instead of iron wire and it should not be tied with water pipes or electricity connections.
They should advise their children to stay away from electricity poles and wires while playing in the streets.
People should not tie their animals with electric poles and wires and keep a distance of at least 100 feet from high tension electricity wires.
In case of any accident, the affected person should be separated with piece of wood or cloth while lines men should adopt all safety measures during rectifying any fault.
People and animals should not be allowed to go near the wires fallen by wind storm till the IESCO officials reach there.
The consumers have also been asked to contact officials of the company present in the complaint office, SDO or XEN of the concerned areas in case of any emergency.
