KARACHI: President of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Zakaria Usman on Thursday urged the politicians to overcome their differences in the larger interest of the country.
Addressing the flag hoisting ceremony at Federation House here on the 68th Independence Day, he said the country was faced with different economic, social and political problems with direct bearing on the lives of the masses.
This, he said must not persist and politicians, being vital stakeholders, must take upon themselves to address amicably their differences in the interest of the people of the country.
FPCCI President, Zakaria Usman said Pakistan was engaged in a war against terrorism which was crucial for the very existence of the country.
Country is already incurring huge expenses in its war against terrorism, he said mentioning that Pakistan was also passing through a difficult situation as severe shortage of energy has badly affected industries leading to unemployment and consequent law and order situation.
Zakaria Usman urged the leadership of political parties to avoid an attitude that may further hamper economic and trade activities in the country.
“Politics, economy and trade must be kept separate so that country may not suffer any further loss,” said the FPCCI president.
” Strikes, harassment through mobs and destruction of the public and private properties are national loss,” he said mentioning that these also directly affect the labourers and daily wage earners.
The flag hoisting ceremony at FPCCI was also attended by its Senior Vice President, Shaukat Ahmed and Vice President, Ismail Sattar besides Haji Shafiqur Rehman, Fayyaz Maggo, M.A. Lodhi,Siddique Sheikh, Ashfaq Siddiqui and others.
The event arranged to solemnize the country’s independence day and to promote patriotism and national unity also included a special session for school children.
