SIALKOT: The 68th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated with traditional zeal and fervor here on Thursday.
The day dawned with special prayers for the prosperity and solidarity of the country.
In this connection, different functions and rallies were organised while the city was decorated tastefully with national flags and portraits of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and poet of the east Allam Iqbal and other national heroes.
All public and private building including District and Session Courts, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sialkot Fort, District Jail, Rangers Headquarters were decorated with national flags and buntings.
Mian Mansha Ullah Butt MPA celebrated Independence Day with prisoners at District Jail Sialkot.
A colourful ceremony was held at District Jail Sialkot where Mansha Ullah Butt while addressing the gathering said Independence Day had a great importance in the history of the country when Muslims of sub-continent got freedom from British yoke.
National Flag was also hoisted at Sialkot Fort where MPAs Mansha ullah Butt, Chaudhry Akraam (PML-N), DCO Nadeem Sarwar, DPO Gohar Nafees and other notables were also present.
A colorful Independence Day function was organised at Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) house where Manshaullah Butt and other political figures participated.
