KARACHI: Former President and Co-Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari had established a tradition of tolerance and reconciliation, his role for strengthening democracy and his efforts for making national institutions stronger and autonomous were self-explanatory.
PPP Senators have called upon Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr Tahir ul Qadri to follow the footsteps of Zardari, after which they would not need to strive for a “New Pakistan and a Revolution” in the country.
PPP Senator Moula Bux Chandio, Senator Saeed Ghani and Senator Kamran Sahar in a joint statement issued from PPP Media Cell here said that Zardari-Nawaz meeting at Raiwind would end the prevailing state of uncertainty and would pave way for economic and political stability, which was need of the hour.
They said that sovereignty of the country and unity of the nation was at stake now due to what they called as “unwise moves by PTI Chairman Imran Khan.”
They said protest rallies and sit-ins were part of politics but any act of haste in this regard always produced reverse effects to the organisers of protest rallies and marches.
Imran Khan should realise that the people could have given their mandate to him provided that he would have held them as an Umpire on August 15.
“The sit-in in front of the Parliament was neither a cricket match nor was a real sit-in and hence there would be no Umpire to raise his finger.”
They asked Imran Khan to immediately wind up the musical party and the “disco in the disguise of sit-in.” They further said “Imran Khan had been using foul language for past many days and made hilarious statements.”
The PTI Chairman had been changing his demands with the passage of every day, which was nothing but a useless drama, which he should now stop, said the PPP Senators.
The PPP leaders said Imran Khan had launched his march without taking the pros and cons into consideration due to which he lacked his own reasoning as what he wanted to do and what kind of demands he should place to the opposite party.
They advised Imran Khan to speak and act after due consultation and that he should take the PTI Central Executive Committee on board prior to making any decision, or amending his demands or else he would become another Air Marshall (Retd) Asghar Khan.
