KHAIRPUR: The 68th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur with national sprit, enthusiasm and fervor on Thursday, The Flag hoisting ceremony was held at Main Central Lawn.
Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah, Vice Chancellor along with Pro-Vice Chancellor Main Campus Prof. Dr. Miandad Zardari, Deans, Chairmen, Chairpersons, Directors and Sectional heads hoisted the national flag.
Speaking on this auspicious occasion, Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah said that 14th August is the day of deliverance from the clutches of colonial exploiters who destroyed the economic, political, social and cultural heritage of the Muslims of the sub-continent.
Dr. Shah said that at this juncture, our country faces serious challenges like extremism, poverty, lack of access to modern education and advanced health facilities. The security apparatus of the state is also under threat from non-state actors and is under immense strain. The Vice Chancellor paid glowing tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces for courageously fighting against the non-state actors and militant forces in North Waziristan.
Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah announced to award cash prize of Rs. 15000 for the students of the university and Model School.
