KARACHI: Former chief of Jamaat e Islami- Pakistan, Syed Munawwar Hussain has reminded people in general that democracy was prerequisite to keep united the country.
Addressing his party workers on eve of JI’s 74th foundation day, Wednesday evening, he said the country is passing through a critical juncture and extreme caution is required to handle the internal as well as external threats and challenges.
Syed Munawwar Hussain particularly urged the PML (N) government as well as PTI and PAT to review their attitudes in the larger interest of the country.
He said JI, realizing its responsibility towards the nation was playing its role to diffuse tension between the government and opponent parties.
The former chief of JI on the occasion also took exception to the attitude of many of the political leaders and alleged that they had tarnished and disgraced the image of democracy in the country.
The Youm e Tasees program organized by JI’s Karachi chapter at Idara e Noor e Haq was attended by a large number of party workers and its leaders.
They paid glowing tributes to JI – Pakistan’s founder Abu Aala Moudodi for his contribution towards re-awakening of the muslims of sub-continent.
Other eminent speakers of the program also included senior journalist Sajjad Mir and Shahnawaz Farooqui.
