KARACHI: Karachiites have urged the politicians of the country to adopt rehabilitation of families displaced from North Waziristan as their top most priority.
Talking to APP on Friday, they said it was incumbent upon all political parties, both in power and those occupying treasury benches to set right their priorities and realize their obligations towards the masses.
“In the present situation when country is engaged in an operation against terrorists and faced with huge challenges it would be appropriate to settle political issues in the parliament,” said Resident Director of Aurat Foundation Karachi.
Mehnaz Rehman also a known women rights’ activist opined that it would had been prudent on part of PML (N) government to accept PTI’s demand at its very initial stage instead of allowing the situation to spiral into a sort of deadlock.
“Despite this I firmly believe that every elected government should be provided with every opportunity to complete its term,” she said mentioning that the country’s political system is still in phase of gaining strength.
Mazhar Bazmi, an educationist said PTI, PML (N), PPP, ANP, MQM JI and all political parties representing people in the parliament are the stakeholders who ought to respect each other’s mandate and contribute towards turning Pakistan into a strong democratic republic.
People in general were of the opinion that PTI’s plan for its August 14 rally is not illegal yet the current situation demanded that it may be extended till the ongoing “Zarb e Azb” operation against the terrorists reaches its logical end.
“In the mean time focus of the nation and the leaders must be towards meaningful assistance to the thousands of the people who have been displaced due to unavoidable operation,” said Prof. Bazmi.
