On August 11 1947, some really staunch words echoed in the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan proudly uttered by none other than the architect of our nation,Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
He said: “You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place or worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed – that has nothing to do with the business of the State.”
Unfortunately, even after 68 years of toil, struggle, sacrifices and battles we have not been able to act upon this simple statement of our founding father.
Our Quaid, the patron of our nation believed in liberty and freedom and that also not just for Muslims but for everyone, be he a member of any religion, caste or creed.
In the light of this statement of our supreme leader we really need to reflect on the fact that the Pakistan that we are living in, is that really what Quaid had visualized?
Do give a thought to this statement while celebrating the 68th Independence Day.
