LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Food and Chairman Cabinet Price Control Committee Punjab, Bilal Yasin has said that the success of 350 Ramazan Bazaars set up throughout the province is the result of hard work of the cabinet price control committee and district administration.
Presiding over a meeting at Committee Room of Civil Secretariat on Tuesday, he said that suggestions have been sought from the members of the committee to continue this process so that people could purchase daily use items on affordable rates.
Secretaries of Agriculture, Industries, Health, Food, Information and Transport departments besides officers of Special Branch, IB and DG Food Authority were also present on the occasion.
The meeting was informed that people have got relief due to success of Ramazan bazaars and they purchased fresh fruits and vegetables on cheaper rates.
The meeting decided that ‘critical bazaars’ should be further activated for ridding the people of price-hike and price control magistrates should be appointed in each bazaar on permanent basis for check and balance.
Secretary Food suggested that besides activation of price control magistrates, non-political and professional chairmen and administrators market committees should be appointed for ensuring sale of edible items on cheaper rates in critical bazaars and open market to eliminate corruption.
He said that activation of market committees will yield positive results.
