ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has made special arrangements with the support of health directorate of Capital Development Authority (CDA) to ensure supply of clean water to sit-ins participants of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).
PIMS spokesman Dr Wasim Khawaja said that chlorination of water is being implemented to save people from typhoid, cholera, hepatitis,diarrhea and bloody diarrhea as there are chances of spread of such diseases besides flu and other viral diseases affecting lungs and throat.
He said that Dr. Allama Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that there is poison in water which is actually a chlorine which has bitter taste but chlorination is necessary for prevention of typhoid, cholera, gastro and hepatitis, he added.
Dr Wasim Khawaja said that Vice Chancellor Shaheed Zulafqar Ali Bhuttomedical university, PIMS, Prof Javed Akram Pakistan met with officials of CDA Health Directorate for water purification for sit-ins participants.He added medically fumigation is not suitable in a crowd as it causes allergy and asthma.
He said on the direction of Vice Chancellor Shaheed Zulafqar Ali Bhutto medical university, PIMS, Prof Javed Akram a qualified team of medical and para medical staff is working in the hospital’s emergency round the clock.
He said all senior doctors are on call while special direction from vice chancellor medical university has been issued to provide standard medical cover to protesters.
He said that the hospital management has also managed the routine services of the hospital so that the admitted patients and incoming patients other than protesters are provided with basic health facilities.
