KARACHI:New elected Vice President of Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) Rana Mujahid believed that his election will be helpful in inviting foreign teams to Pakistan.
“I will have more liaison with other federations and their officials and that would benefit Pakistan,” he told APP on his return from Kualalumpur on Friday.
He said he would be having regular contacts with China, India,Korea, Malaysia in attracting them to play with Pakistan on exchange programme.
He said Prince Abdullah of Malaysia was elected as the President of the continental body and India also got vice president position.
President of International Hockey Federation (FIH) Leandro Negre also attended AHF Congress and elections.
Olympian Rana Mujahid said that his victory in the unanimous election was success of Pakistan hockey which pay dividends in future.
“It’s a great honor for him and Pakistan to be elected in 27-nation body,” beaming Rana, who is also Secretary of Pakistan Hockey Federation, said.
He said it was a dream to bring international hockey back to Pakistan and work hard for achieving this objective.
Rana Mujahid said hockey can be revived in Pakistan by attracting foreign teams and improve domestic hockey.
He said despite problems, he remained optimistic about future of national hockey.
