ISLAMABAD: The total numbers of broadband subscribers in the country have reached 3.64 million by April this year with addition of around 92,396 new connections in a month.
As per stats issued by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) till March 2014, the number of broadband subscribers was 3.35 million.
The main contributions of these huge subscriptions was of PTCL which added more than 0.317 million subscribers on their networks with help of EvDO technology in last three months.
Total numbers of customers on EvDO networks have been reached to 1.72 million by April this year, which is 49 per cent of market-share in terms of total numbers of broadband subscribers.
DSL remains at the 2nd place in account of market-share in terms of numbers of subscribers with 1.3 million subscriptions.
WiMAX companies lost their share in one month, reaching 5,61,089 subscribers from 563,400 subscribers in March 2014.
According to analysts, the increment of overwhelming numbers of subscribers exponentially of PTCL and EvDo technology in Pakistan is due to one after another packages being offered.
