DI KHAN: People from across the society have condemned attack of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek(PAT) protesters on Parliament House and government offices.
Opposition leader in the KPK Assembly Maulana Lutuf Rehman said his party had been saying right from the beginning that PTI and PAT were enjoying support of undemocratic forces and they were acting upon their own agenda to derail democracy.
He said all the political parties were united to give a befitting response to such undemocratic elements and uphold sanctity of Parliament and other national institutions.
He said the attack on the PTV building was part of an effort to strangulate voice of democratic people and it could be rightly termed an attack on an independent and responsible media.
Jamaat-e-Islami leader Zahid Muhibullah advocate said attack on the Parliament house and other state entities including PTV had exposed the two parties that they did not want democracy in the country.
Leader Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) Qaizar Miankhel said attack on national buildings reflected the mind-set of the leadership of the PTI and PAT, which negated democratic culture.
He said the two parties were afraid of the country?s development as a result of prudent policies of the prime minister and added the government was committed to going ahead with its development plans for achieving national prosperity.
The district bar association’s president Akhtar Hussain Qureshi said the sit-in protests besides causing difficulties to the people were also resulting in a massive damage to the country’s economy.He said the storming PTV building and the Parliament was a condemnable act by the participants of the two parties that had been camping out in the federal capital for the last two weeks.
He said attack on the state-owned media house attack was tantamount to attack on freedom of press and added these forces would succeed in their ulterior motives.
He said the Azadi March and Inqilab March were part of conspiracy against democracy, but he warned that no one would be allowed to derail democracy in the country.
He said violent activities by the protesters of the PAT and PTI, which had caused huge loss, were tantamount to inviting the third force to take over.
He said the legal community had always rendered sacrifices for ensuring rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution and this time also, he added, they would play their role in this regard.
General Secretary Dera Ismail Khan Press Club Muhammad Fazalur Rehman said PTV had always played important role in strengthening unity among the people of the country and such attacks reflected mind of undemocratic forces, he added.
He said attack on the media house could not deter journalist community and it would continue raising voice against injustice.
