KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Environment and Coastal Development, Dr Sikander Mandhro on Monday sought immediate emergency cum evacuation plans for inhabitants of the settlements around Left Bank Outfall Drain (LBOD) against possible rain floods in the area.
Consequent to his detailed visit to districts Badin and Thatta, alongwith officials of districts’ administration, provincial irrigation and other relevant departments, he said areas where Sindh river falls into the Arabia sea may be seriously affected due to chances of flood.
The minister, accompanied by concerned officials also took round of borders areas in Rann of Katch and reviewed required arrangements for the safety of areas that could be at high risk due to heavy flow of flood water expected in the area in next few days’ time.
”Emergency preparedness is the option and has to be equally shared by all the concerned departments with optimum focus on safety of public lives and property,” said Dr Sikander.
The minister also discussed provision for an effective and timely strategy for the population living around LBOD.
