RAWALPINDI: City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has launched traffic awareness campaign and education week to educate drivers that mirrors and indicators must be used while changing lanes on the roads.
According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Shoaib Khurram Janbaz, the motorists, under the campaign, will be given tips about lane discipline, use of indicators and the advantages of keeping to the correct lanes.
Awareness banners have been displayed at all important intersections while pamphlets are also being distributed among the roads users.
The campaign will aim to establish a disciplined traffic system in the city, by avoiding lane violations which cause severe accidents and damage vehicles.
The motorists should follow traffic rules and use mirrors and indicators while changing lanes, he said adding, the campaign has been started to acquaint people with traffic laws while inculcating better traffic sense among them.
He said CTP is making efforts to maintain traffic discipline in the city and involving the community in eliminating traffic violations.
Drivers who make sudden lane changes without using indicators risk their lives through their own ignorance and carelessness, he added.
Mobile Education Unit of CTP is arranging special briefing sessions on road safety at important roads and other public places in the city, he added.
In order to make the campaign more effective and meaningful traffic wardens and officers have been issued special instructions, he said adding, Education Wing of Traffic police has been making efforts to spread awareness so that the road journey could be made safe and sound.
