SARGODHA: District Coordinator Officer, Saqib Manan Saturday directed the revenue department to activate flood relief camps and shift the people of vulnerable localities to safer places due to expected flood in river Jhelum and Chenab.
The DCO said this while addressing a meeting here in connection with reviewing the expected flood situation in river Jhelum and Chenab.
The meeting was attended by DPO Raja Basharat Mehmood, ADC Farooq Manzoor, EDO Education Zafar Rehan, EXN operation Irrigation Muhammad Aslam Beg, Assistant Commissioners and other concerned officers.
He said that according to information of Meteorologist it was expected that water level in both the rivers was continuously surging so the district administration should be red-alert for securing the lives of people living at the adjacent areas of the rivers.
He further directed the administration that besides shifting the people and other animals at safer places, arrangements for providing food, medicines and other necessities of life to them should be made on exigent bases.
The DCO especially directed the Assistants Commissioners of Sahiwal,Kot Momin, Bhera and Shahpur Tehsils for setting up flood relief camps consist of food, medicines, Tents, Ships and Emergency lights.
