ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has finalized protective arrangements against any likely flood situation in the low lying areas of Islamabad during the monsoon season, an official source said here Tuesday.
He said it has been decided to conduct the survey of catchment areas in city and rural areas and take effective protective measures in the wake of rains.
He said this contingency plan has been prepared in a meeting of ICT high ups after torrential rain last week, the source maintained.
Assistant Commissioners and the relevant officials have been instructed to activate the flood relief and rescue committees at the rural and city level and ensure the protection of life and property of the people particularly living in the nearby areas of the Korang River, Soan Rriver, Simly dam and Rawal dam.
Timely discharge of water from the dams should be ensured by the management of dams and people should be intimated prior to discharge of water.
District Health Officer, Islamabad has been directed to strengthen the immunization against seasonal diseases in the rural areas during monsoon. Water tanks should be cleaned and chlorination of water be conducted. It has been directed to ensure routine immunization against measles in the rural and city area.
