ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad Tuesday inaugurated Vermicomposting and Vermiculturing Unit at National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC).
“The unit will produce three products i.e. vermicompost, verminwash and vermiculture for sale for tunnel farming, kitchen gardening and nursery growers,” Dr. Arshad Ali, Director Land Resources Research Institute (LRRI) said while briefing the PARC Chairman.
He said that the center would produce approximately 200 tons vermicompost annualy in future.
On this occasion, Chairman PARC congratulated Dr. Arshad Ali, Director LRRI and his team of scientists for the development of this facility at prestigious research centre (NARC).
He also appreciated the role of PATCO management to financially support to establish this facility for managing biomass clippings and farm biodegradable waste at NARC.
On this occasion, Dr. Muhammad Azeem Khan, DG NARC said that PARC and NARC have developed a number of innovations which needed to be transferred to different clients to improve agriculture sector.
Among others, Dr. Nadeem Amjad, Member (NRD), Dr. Shahid Rafique, Member (ASD), Dr. Muhammad Ehsan Akhtar, Registrar (PIASA), Dr. Tariq Hussain, Chief (PATCO) and Dr. Arshad Ali, Director (LRRI) also spoke on the occasion.
