KARACHI: Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA)Sindh Director General Syed Salman Shah has said that all the preparations have been finalised to deal with possible floods, and the departments concerned have been put on high alert.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, the DG PDMA further said that in line with the directives of the Sindh Chief Minister, relief goods are being supplied in advance to the sensitive areas.
He said that the PDMA has dispatched bottled water, tents, mosquito nets and other relief goods to Sukkur, Kashmor, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Larkana, Ghotki and other areas.
Giving details, he informed that 20-litre Gerry cans of water have been sent to Sukkur, Kashmor, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Larkana and Ghotki. While 500 each more tents have been sent to Ghotki and Khairpur and 1000 to Mitiari, he added.
He further said 500 each mosquito nets have been dispatched to Ghotki and Kashmor districts. He further said fifty 500-litre water tanks have been sent to Ghotki and Kashmor.
The DG PDMA Saturday visited various flood relief camps in Khairpur. He also attended a briefing at Faridabad camp about preparations to cope with floods. Deputy Commissioner Khairpur and officers of the health, irrigation and veterinary departments briefed the PDMA DG in detail about their preparations.
The DG PDMA also inspected the Old and New Tori embankments, RD-45 and district Larkana’s Nusrat dykes.
