The rupee almost managed to hold the overnight levels in relation to the dollar on the currency market on Thursday, dealers said. The rupee did not move any side versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 102.76 and Rs 102.78 respectively, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee shed five-paisa against the dollar for buying at Rs 102.40; however it gained the same amount for selling at Rs 102.50, they said. While, the rupee picked up 40-paisa versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 130.80 and Rs 131.05, they said.
In the fourth Asian trade, the euro languished at 14-month lows in Asia on Thursday after reported remarks from European Central Bank President Mario Draghi rekindled expectations of more policy steps to support the euro zone. The euro was already under pressure after surrendering to stop-loss selling on Wednesday, as a major chart bulwark at $1.2800 gave way.
The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 61.08, the greenback was at 3.2515 versus the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was available at 6.1391 against the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee staged recovery and was appreciated by 10-paisa in relation to the greenback on the local currency market on Thursday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar was opened on a depressed note and remained under selling pressure during the day’s trading. At close of trading, the dollar was ended at Rs 102.55 and Rs 102.80 as its buying and selling rate against Rs 102.65 and Rs 102.90 of Wednesday, respectively, the dealers said.
Likewise, the rupee remained strong and was improved against the pound sterling. The pound’s buying and selling rates were declined from overnight closing of Rs 167.75 and Rs 168.00 to Rs 167.00 and Rs 167.25, respectively, they added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee remained firm against the dollar on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Thursday.
The dollar opened at Rs 101 (buying) and Rs 101.10 (selling) against same overnight rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101 (buying) and Rs 101.10 (selling) against.
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 168 (buying) and Rs 168.10 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 168 (buying) and Rs 168.10 (selling).
