The aura inside the marquee hall lit by fluorescent blue lights at the Pearl Continental Karachi on 2Zth of September was celebratory. Guests from all walks of life, including the notable media personalities, tech-savvy individuals and business executives, came together with only one purpose in mind – to celebrate the new millstone set by Zong.
Zong that branches from its parent company China Mobile, became the proud owner of latest and fastest technology called 4G which promises ultra-broadband Internet for mobile. They are the first and the only telecommunication company currently operating in Pakistan who has managed to attain a license for 4Glte. China Mobile Pakistan, itself is a 100% subsidiary of China Mobile. They acquired the license from Millicom to operate a GSM network in Pakistan, and from thereon, have enjoyed an unprecedented status within the industry.
This new and age technology launched to the eager crowds will simply enable the customers to enjoy highest speed and widest coverage at lowest prices. Succeeding the already operational 3G network services provided to its customers, Zong 4Glte aspires “speed, security and storage.” For its initial few months, this high-end networking service will only be available for the major cities of Pakistan including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Faisalabad; only to branch forth with the lapse of time. Zong will also introduce a new range of 4G enabled smart phones to the market under their brand name, which will allow the customer to experience network speed, 8 to 10 times faster than the 3G network.
The evening began with presentations given by CEO Zong and the Manager of Pakistan telecommunication, who briefed the audience about the specialties of the new networking system. Ravishing Juggan Kazim and eminent Faizan Haque, not only proved to be the brilliant hosts for the evening but also kept the audiences engaged and entertained by their witty remarks.
The audience got in the mood to let loose and enjoy the celebration as Sonu Dangerous took the stage with his enthralling dance performance, followed by a fashion show showcasing Pakistani fashion veterans. The models made a slow and stealthy metamorphosis from Deepak Perwani’s sequined short shorts, and lighted jackets to flimsy tie-dye chiffon tunics for Maheen Karim. Sadaf Malaterre’s sultry cocktail dresses with bead and sequin work took the ramp next, followed in suit by Faraz Manan’s bespoke swoop-back pleated twill and glamorized shirtwaists. And while Sania Maskatiya’s silhouettes made a perfect transition from preppy trousers to pantaloons, Sana Safinaz showcased light-catching sheets of backless satin gowns and mesmerized the crowds. The fashion segment ended with Shela Chatoor’s gold-rush and Ayesha Haswani’s dresses in punchy hues with a sole purpose to set the thrill again.
The Zong 4Glte launch was a perfect display of classic silhouettes in a technologically savvy environment which continued with a sit-in dinner, followed by a live performance by music’s most notable band, RDB who flew all the way from UK for the launch and surely got the audience on its feet. The credit for a phenomenal show goes to Frieha Altaf and her team at Catwalk Event Management & Productions.
