KARACHI: The Sindh police are adopting extra-ordinary measures for the security of the participants of Majalis and mourning processions during Muharram-ul-Haram.
It was informed in a report prepared for IG Police Sindh by police department over Muharram security plan.
It said the police officers and jawans having anti-terrorist training will discharge their responsibilities for the main Majalis and mourning processions in addition to regular police force, Besides this police commandos will be deployed in the sensitive areas of the city.
The report stated that security plans for Majalis and mourning processions have been prepared at police station and district levels.
The IGP was apprised in the report that there are around 460 Imam-Bargahs in the city, 26 Ismaili Jamat Khana and 12 Bohri Jamat Khana.
He was informed that over 5,900 Majalis will be held from Muharram 1 to 10, and more than 600 small and big mourning processions will be taken out from different areas.
It was further stated that nearly 4,318 Masajid and around 1,354 religious seminaries are present in the city, where over 346 Waaz/ Mahafils will be held in these days and more than 445 small and big processions will be taken out.
According to the report, the Sindh government will take all possible steps to ensure implementation of inter-provincial and inter-district entry ban on certain Ulema/ Zakireen besides other restrictions under Section 144. While all possible steps will be ensured with regard to 4th schedule list and loud speaker Act.
It was informed that the recommendations of the religious scholars from all schools of thought have been incorporated in the security plan.
It was stated that concrete steps are being taken to check offensive wall chalking, material and speeches.
For the monitoring of the security measures, area control rooms will remain in contact under DIG rank officers with the central control room set up at the IGP Sindh office.
