KARACHI: Two legendary batsmen and former Pakistan captains Hanif Muhammad and Javed Miandad complimented Younis Khan for striking a century in each innings of a Test match against Australia in Dubai on Saturday.
“With grand batting feat he (Younis) proved why he is the best Pakistan
batsman of the team” Hanif Muhammad, who created history in 1962 by becoming the first batsman to hit twin centuries in each innings against England, said.
“With grand batting feat he (Younis) proved why he is still the best
Pakistan batsman of the team,” Little Master remarked.
“Selectors did great injustice to him by dropping him in ODI series. But he gave them befitting reply with such a remarkable feat, he said.
Pakistan team suffered 3-0 whitewash by Australia after being outclassed
in one-off Twenty20.
Former Pakistan captain Hanif Muhammad, believed that Younis Khan should
have been treated well by all.
“Younis is a great team man and fighter to the core and such players
deserved a special place in the team,” he added.
Younis’ both centuries were contrasting. He scored 106 off 233 balls in
the first innings with ten boundaries and lone six and his unbeaten 103 in the second came in 152 balls and included half a dozen boundaries and brace of sixes.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Sheharyar M.Khan also applauded the unique
feat by Younis Khan.
It’s a great accomplishment by Younis Khan and his fighting centuries in
both innings and combined team effort put Pakistan in winning position, PCB Chairman said.
Former Pakistan captain’s innings century and his second innings was
attacking and aggressive, Miandad said.
He lauded the role of Younis Khan and his fighting qualities which lifted Pakistan to new heights and put them in strong position.

Javed Miandad said Younis Khan is an outstanding batsman and he gave
right answer to the selectors, who dropped him for the One-day series.
“We needed steady batsman like Younis for the World Cup. He was hurt and
he gave good reply to his critics and selectors, Miandad, who himself scored a century in each innings by scoring 104 and 103 not out against New Zealand at Niaz Stadium Hyderabad in 1984, said.
