BANNU: Chairperson National Assembly Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Marvi Memon on Sunday said the government was committed to providing all basic facilities of life to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of the North Waziristan Agency.
She expressed these views during her visit to the Bakkakhel Camp to celebrate Eidul Azha with the IDPs in the camp where army officers briefed her about the facilities within the facility.
She was informed that presently 2516 families, consisting of more than 15000 individuals were staying in the camp where all basic facilities were being provided to them.
She was told as many as 53 animals would be sacrificed for the IDPs in the camp Monday.
The army officials said, another camp was being set up for the IDPs near Bannu airport where 1500 families could be accommodated.
Marvi Memon mixed up with IDPs women and listened to their problems. She directed the concerned officials to solve their problems on priority basis.
Later talking to media she said the KPK government was not fulfilling its responsibility with regard to solution of problems of the IDPs, while the federal government was taking solid measures for extending relief to the displaced populace of the North Waziristan.
She said the federal government was working for the welfare of the IDPs in co-ordination with army and other government agencies.
She said that she was visiting the IDPs camps to share happy moments on the occasion of the Eid with them on the special directives of the prime minister.
