ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid said on Monday that PTI chairman Imran Khan should distance himself from culture of terrorists.
Talking to media persons after attending the meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Information,Broadcasting and National Heritage he said that for the sake of his party’s name Imran should appear in the courts and get justice through proper channel as street justice was not a civilized way as it was considered method of terrorists.He said Imran got furious and started his so called sit-in after launch of Operation Zarb-e-Azb against terrorists in Waziristan. He said Imran’s threats should not be taken seriously as he was master of U-turns.
To a question, he said that implementation of electronic media code of conduct was responsibility of the government but it has to take all stakeholders on-board. He said that there was general consensus that there should be a code of conduct for electronic media owing to its growth and its access to the living rooms of the people and women and children watch the television channels, so there should be some sort of mechanism to stop telecast of content against our culture and civilization.
The minister said that code of conduct was required not only for news channels only but entertainment and even religious channels also needed it.
To a question he said that Pakistan and Afghanistan have understood each other’s concerns and both the countries were ready to address them by expanding areas of cooperation mutually beneficial in future.
Afghan President, he added, wants to expand regional cooperation for economic development and Pakistan also believes in the same vision, and no economic progress was possible without peace, so both countries will have to work for peace.
