KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation, Gayan Chand Asrani has said that the excise department’s motor vehicle registration wing would be reformed on strong and modern lines.
Chairing a meeting of the officials associated with the motor registration wing of the department, Thursday, he said the motive is to facilitate the public in general and also improve government earnings.
“For the very purpose revenue collection system at motor registration department is being improved through an updated computerized mechanism,” he told the officials.
The measures being adopted on immediate basis will hold provision for one window operation so as to expedite the motor-vehicle registration process through an efficient trekking system.
Owners of registered vehicles would thus be duly intimated about their vehicular tax status through an efficient SMS system, the minister said mentioning that the applicants, who may have applied for registration of their vehicles would be in a position to keep track of the status of their respective applications.
He said that as a matter of principle and given the existent facilities the registration process for any vehicles must be completed within 10 days.
Minister Gayan Chand Asrani also directed necessary provision for complain boxes at all designated offices and sub-offices of motor vehicle registration section so that people may be in a better position to communicate their relevant grievances and share suggestion with the concerned authorities.
