ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Post is holding International letter writing competition for students under 15 years of age to join move of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).
Additional Director General (Operations) Pakistan Post Fazli Sattar Khan told APP that the theme selected for the 2014-15 competition is: “Tell us about the world you want to grow up in”.
He said that the winners of the contest would be awarded with Rs.20,000, Rs10,000 and Rs.5,000 respectively of first, second and third prize.
Khan said that the best letter (English Version only) will be sent to the UPU, where a jury set up by UPU will select winners to be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals bearing relevant inscription and their names as well as albums of the UPU official postage stamps.
In addition, the next four or five winners will be awarded certificates and consolation prizes by the UPU.
“Students of not more than 15 years of age can participate in the competition by sending a letter in English or Urdu duly verified by the Head of their educational institution to the Assistant Director (International Post) Pakistan Post Directorate General, G-8/4, Islamabad-44080,” he added.
He said that each participant must send his or her entry by Urgent Mail Service (UMS) or through Registered Post.
The following particulars should be authenticated by the Head of the Institution, full name, father’s, name, age, class, name of institution with complete address and telephone number and length of letter from 500 to 800 words.
He said that Pakistan Post is encouraging students to participate in the international letter writing competition.
The UPU competition gives youth worldwide an opportunity to express themselves on their hopes for the world we live in, and the possible solutions they see to the issues and challenges facing the planet.
