KARACHI: The technical modalities of Karachi-Lahore Motorway (KLM) have been finalized and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will soon perform its ground breaking.
This was stated by the Member Operations, National Highway Authorities (NHA) Arshad Mehmood Chaudhary while addressing the NHA stakeholders’ consultative conference here on Monday.
He said Rs 117.624 and Rs 24.744 million have been allocated respectively for expansion, repair and maintenance of NHA’s road network this year, whereas the Government intends not only to upgrade the existing network but it also intends to timely complete the National Trade Corridor and Pak-China Trade Corridor under a comprehensive strategy.
He said that the Prime Minister’s development vision envisages revolutionary changes in the communication sector therefore; work on these mega projects is going to start immediately.
The conference was also addressed by the representatives of Goods Transport Associations, CNG Association, Petrol Pump Associations, Bus Owners Associations, Car Carrier Associations, civil society and KCCI.
The representatives of various stake holders put forward their recommendations and pledged to abide by laws framed by authority while using roads, whereas the Member Operations assured to incorporate the stakeholders recommendations in NHA’s Annual Maintenance Plan.
A detailed briefing was given to the participants by concerned officials through multimedia regarding ongoing maintenance work on the highways throughout the country.
