LAHORE-Russian Ambassador in Pakistan Alexey Yurivich Dedov called on Chief Minister Punjab Muhammed Shahbaz Sharif here on Tuesday.
Matters of mutual interest,promotion of bilateral relations and cooperation in various sectors were discussed in the meeting.
The Chief Minister said time has come that Pakistan and Russia should strengthen bilateral trade relations. Pakistan is facing energy crisis while the government is taking steps on war-footing to overcome it,he said.
Shahbaz Sharif urged Russian investors to cooperate with Pakistan in the energy sector.He said the government would welcome Russian cooperation in hydro power projects and ore exploration in the Punjab province.
Russian Ambassador said his country wants to promote relations in different sectors with Pakistan.He said promotion of trade and economic relations between the two countries is need of the hour.
He stressed that Pakistani businessmen must explore untapped market of Russia as Pakistani products meeting quality standards could gain market shares.
Mr. Dedov expressed optimism that Pakistani and Russian businessmen could enter joint ventures to benefit their respective businesses and propel bilateral trade to new heights. “Russia has a lot to offer to the business community of Pakistan,” he added.
