Senate Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges has issued arrest warrants of former Secretary Public Health Engineering Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sajid Jadoon, and directed Inspector General Police (IGP) of KP to ensure his presence in the next meeting. The Committee met here with Senator Colonel Tahir Hussain Mashhadi (Retd) in the chair at Parliament House.
The Committee discussed two privilege motions of Senators Zahid Khan and Tanveer-ul-Haq. The privilege motion of Zahid Khan was about non-presence of any official of Public Health Engineering of KP on the occasion of inauguration of a water supply scheme despite fixation of date. The members of the Committee discussed the issue and rules of privilege of the Senate and constitutional limits of bureaucracy.
The Committee took serious notice of the absence of Sajid Jadoon on the occasion of inauguration of water supply scheme and termed it a serious mistake. The Committee had also summoned Sajid Jadoon but he did not come up. Afterwards, the Committee unanimously decided to take action against Jadoon and issued arrest warrants and directed IGP KP to present him in next meeting. While discussing the other privileges of Senator Tanveer-ul-Haq, Chairman of the Committee said that Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem was of the view that he was not aware of phone calls of Seantor Tanveer as he was sick and was admitted to a hospital.
