ISLAMABAD: llegally detained Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party, Shabbir Ahmad Shah has denounced the arbitrary crackdown on Hurriyet leaders and activists by Indian police.
Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the police had started raiding the houses of various leaders and activists of the party and warned police to stop such arbitrary arrest spree and release the arrested persons forthwith, KMS reported.
He said that the authorities, by starting such crackdown, have proved that they could not face the pro-freedom people at political level and wanted to proclaim their so-called victory by suppressing political opponents by the dint of force.
Terming the recent statements on AFSPA by pro-India political parties opportunism, Shabbir Ahmad Shah said: “Making noise over AFSPA at the time of elections is aimed at misleading the people and to fill their vote banks while as the reality is that they all pro-India parties wanted the status-quo of the black law.”
He said Omar Abdullah during his tenure has promised to repeal this black law “Now, he (Omar) and his like-minded politicians are blaming each other for their failure to repeal the law,” he added.
Reiterating his election boycott appeal, Shabbir Shah said that people should realize that those elements whose hands were dipped with the blood of Kashmiri youth could never be their representatives. “Voting for them is treason with the mission of martyrs who laid their precious lives for Kashmir cause, he maintained.
Remembering the Aali Kadal martyrs on their anniversary, the DFP Chairman said that Kashmiris would never forget the sacrifices of those who offered their precious blood to break the chains of Indian oppression and occupation.
