President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday accepted the resignation of Zahid Hamid, Federal Minister for Science and Technology. Zahid Hamid had tendered his resignation soon after a special court, trying former president General Pervez Musharraf, ordered to add him along with former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and former chief justice of Pakistan Abdul Hameed Dogar to the charge-sheet in the high treason case.
An official said that following the advice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, President Mamnoon Hussain accepted the resignation of Zahid Hamid. Last week, Hamid tendered his resignation minutes after a special court hearing the treason case ordered to include him as one of the abettors of the former president. Hamid was the federal law minister during Pervez Musharraf’s tenure.
