Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has convened an All-Party Conference (APC) of political parties in the Parliament today (Wednesday) to finalise his government’s anti-terror plan for eradication of extremism/ terrorism from the country. On Tuesday, a high-level meeting was presided over by the Prime Minister to discuss modalities of counter-terrorism national action plan. Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar gave a detailed briefing to the meeting on the decisions of the action plan committee and discussions with the parliamentary committee.
The meeting reportedly underlined the need for an immediate action. The meeting expressed its firm determination and resolve towards taking a decisive action against terrorists with improved intelligence sharing system among difference agencies. The meeting expressed the resolve to ensure swift and effective implementation of the approved action plan. Various short-term and medium-term steps are required to be taken for eliminating terror networks operating in various parts of the country.
The Prime Minister said that the operation Zarb-e-Azb will continue till the last terrorist is eliminated. He said no distinction will be made between those who have committed the acts of terror and those who harbour, facilitate and finance them. He stressed on the need for national unity to defeat the terrorist and extremist ideology, which, he said, will be rooted out at all costs. The Prime Minister said sacrifices rendered by the people of Pakistan, including our security forces, are un-paralleled in this war and the blood of martyrs will not go in vain.
The Prime Minister said we cannot forget or forgive the atrocities committed by these barbarians in Peshawar, Quetta and Wagha. He said every citizen of the country, irrespective of his caste, sect or faith, will be protected. No cause is holier than protecting the life and property of every citizen of Pakistan. Federal Minister for Interior, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan; Federal Minister for Finance, Ishaq Dar; Chief of the Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif; DG ISI, DG Military Operations, DG MI and DG ISPR attended the meeting which reviewed the progress on the operation Zarb-e-Azb and discussed modalities of a national action plan on counter-terrorism and extremism.
