ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in Senate Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan on Tuesday urged the government to ink a Peace and Cooperation Treaty with Afghanistan for jointly eliminating the menace of terrorism from the region.
Participating in the debate on “Peshawar Tragedy” in Senate , he said modern technology should be used to cope with the menace of terrorism.
He said the foreign and defense ministries should be directed to start initial work for inking agreement with Afghanistan.
He said the murder of innocent children is unacceptable and we should turn such time of grief into strength. Terrorists were hitting the soft targets including Wagah border, mosques, schools, seminaries, army men and polio workers. Terrorists hit where it hurt the most.
He said we have been facing the worst enemies as the animals never murder their fellow animals. Terrorists want to paralyze the whole society.
A system should be devised to regulate seminaries of the country. Modern subjects of science, computer and Mathematics should be taught to the students of seminaries.
He urged Prime Minister to take into confidence people, parliament and infuse sense of security amongst them. Nation should be trained to take a close vigil on their surroundings.
About committee, he said the Pakistan People’s Party representatives have put forth valuable suggestions for elimination of terrorism.
