RAWALPINDI: Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Shoaib Khurram has asked the citizens to use Airport Road through Karal Chowk, Peshawar Road through IJP Road and Golra Road to reach Islamabad, while the motorists can come to Rawalpindi city area through Rawal Road, Saidpur Road and IJP Road as the construction work on Metro Bus Project is in final stages and sections of Murree Road have been closed for vehicular traffic.
He in a statement issued here said a comprehensive traffic plan to facilitate the citizens for the construction period had been issued.
Section 144 has also been imposed; he said adding; now no one would be allowed to encroach the roads or park vehicles at Murree Road and alternative routes.
He said, great efforts were being made by the traffic police to regulate traffic on Murree Road but without the cooperation of the citizens, traffic load on city roads including Benazir Bhutto Road cannot be controlled.
The CTO said besides enhanced number of traffic wardens, the officials who were performing duties in several other areas, were also deployed on Murree Road.
He said though a traffic plan had been devised, but the cooperation of citizens was necessary to avoid a traffic mess, mainly on the Murree Road.
CTP in coordination with departments concerned is conducting operations against encroachers aimed at clearing city roads for the smooth flow of traffic to provide relief to the motorists, he added.
The city traffic police have also prepared a plan to keep the traffic moving as much as possible while the elevated road is being constructed for the bus service, on the busy Murree Road.
All necessary arrangements, regarding the flow of the traffic, have been made aimed at facilitating the citizens, mainly motorists, he said.
