ISLAMABAD:- The forum patronized by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani terming as horrifying the prevailing situation in the territory, has urged Amnesty International, Asia Watch, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and other world bodies and human rights organizations to help stop the exercise as it is aimed at diluting the real dispute over Jammu and Kashmir.
The forum in a statement issued in Srinagar, said, “Situation in Kashmir is extremely grim and gloomy and is little known to external world particularly in the backdrop of ongoing election drama. The human rights violation in the territory is at its peak and the excesses at the hands of lakhs of Indian armed personnel and thousands of village defenses committees are beyond imagination,” the statement added, KMS reported.
“The continued arrest drive launched by the administration particularly from the last month has created panic and insecurity among all the people across the Valley. The authorities have till date arrested more than 4000 pro-freedom leaders, activists and youth. They have turned the state into a big jail in the name of so-called assembly elections, which are meaningless, immoral and unconstitutional,” it said.
“All the pro-freedom parties in an unequivocal voice have rejected these manipulated elections”, the spokesman maintained.
The spokesman said that Pakistan being a primary party to the Kashmir issue has a greater responsibility to highlight the realities about Kashmir.
