KARACHI: Inspector General of Police – Sindh, Ghulam Haider Jamali, consequent to his early morning special visit to Garhi Khuda Baksh, Friday directed strengthening of security on the premises and surrounding of BB shaheed’s mausoleum.
He said massive turn out of PPP workers and admirers of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed’s from across the country, on the eve of her seventh death anniversary, being observed on Saturday, demanded extreme caution and care.
“It is therefore necessary that police must ensure diligent execution of security strategy developed for Garhi Khuda Baksh,” said the IGP – Sindh.
He reiterated that the measures chalked out for security at Garhi Khuda Baksh – its entry and exit points, alongwith with security cover for areas interconnecting Sindh with other provinces have to been strictly complied with.
He urged officials to double check the arrangements and measures adopted for implentation at regular interval besides ensuring that most competent and efficient cops are assigned responsibilities in the high risk areas.
The Sindh Police chief said each and every human life is precious therefore equal attention must be paid towards safety and security of people in general alongwith VIPs.
He reiterated strict vigil must be kept on the flow of people coming to Garhi Khuda Baksh and also those leaving the place.
Moreover, fool-proof screening at all entry and exit points on inter-provincial borders, he said has already been initiated to nab suspected elements.
This must be complimented with increased snap checking and patrolling on all relevant highways alongwith link and side roads, he said.
IGP-Sindh reiterated that all highways’ check-posts must also be necessarily manned by competent cops while their deployment must be ensured as per plan with active involvement of supervising officers belonging to relevant police stations so as to avert entry of suspected vehicles, he said.
He said intelligence sharing measures must be strengthened with equal attention to ensure that these are also coordinated, concentrated and forceful.
Sindh Police chief appreciated that cops in plain, civilian clothes have already been deputed at Garhi Khuda Baksh with immediate effect.
