9:00 AM: PTI activists start blocking main routes of Karachi
KARACHI: Main routes of Karachi have been blocked by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists including Shahrah-e-Faisal and National High, Aaj News reported.
PTI workers blocked road at Qayyumabad Chorangi, Nursery Shahrah-e-Faisal, Quaidabad, Nazimabad Five-Star Chorangi, Teen Talwar Clifton and others.
The planned closure is a continuation of the PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s push to pressurise the government on carrying out an inquiry into the alleged rigging in the May 2013 general elections.
It is pertinent to mention here that sticking to its ‘Plan C’, PTI says it has been successful in motivating some associations to voluntarily join its appeal for a shutdown at 25 locations in Karachi today (Friday).
However, party leadership has informed the PTI activists not to forcibly close the business of anyone as it will be a peaceful protest.
PTI chief Imran Khan is scheduled to arrive in Karachi at 2pm and address his supporters around 3pm.
