KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Minorities Affairs, Excise and Taxation, Forest and Wildlife Gayan Chand Esrani has said that the provincial government will provide financial assistance to deserving Christian families on Christmas festival.
Talking to a delegation of Karachi’s Christian community at his residence here on Sunday, he assured the Christians that the government believes in relations with minorities on the basis of equality, so that all the communities in the province, irrespective of their religion, could be brought closer.
The Minister said that there are especial directives by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to ensure special concessions and benefits to minorities so that Pakistan’s image, particularly that of Sindh, could be highlighted as a peaceful and prosperous place.
Gayan Chand assured that strict security arrangements will be made at Christians’ worship places on Christmas, and in this regard contacts will be strengthened with the IG Police Sindh and law enforcement agencies.
He pointed out that the PPP government is taking steps in relation to providing security and creating employment opportunities to the minorities.
