KARACHI: Federal Minister for Defence Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain has said that Pakistan has very huge potential for arms and ammunition production, therefore, PML-N government has doubled their export and would further enhance.
Talking to journalists during his visit to various stalls at 8th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2014) at Expo Centre here on Tuesday, he said that Pakistan is fulfilling her internal defence needs through local production and also wanted her share in International Market.
Hence, she is selling small and big defence equipment with the slogan “Arms for Peace”.
Now, small to big arms were being sold to countries like America, Britain and Germany, he said.
“We were focusing on our defence and security products”, he added.
Tanveer said that previous IDEAS received a big feedback from the world and this time the event had developed much more.
High level delegations are participating in the event. Last time around 23 countries participated in IDEAS but this time the figure had increased to more than 50.
A little part of JF-17 Thunders would be sold. Before there was no such policy for its marketing as it was fulfilling domestic requirements, Pakistan, he added.
He disclosed that talks about sale of JF-17 were underway with seven countries as well as for Super Mashakh.
Tanveer revealed that Pakistan had produced an arm which can target an enemy behind the wall.
“Our country has also developed in the field of Jammers technology and its result is too good, and is being sold to Saudi Arabia and other countries”, he said.
“We are paying attention to self-Reliance, Indigenous products and export”, he further said. Pakistani defence technology had been praised at the event, he added.
Replying to a question he said that Pakistan is looking for modern helicopters and interested in buying MI28 and few other copters.
Earlier, the minister met the delegations from China, Turkey, Malaysia and Qatar.
